Meeting MATS Mercury Limits with Challenging Combustion Scenarios

This presentation will discuss the mercury reduction performance of Midwest Energy Emissions' Mercury Control Technology using proprietary Sorbent Enhancement Additive (SEA ) and proprietary sorbents on recent field demonstrations and commercial installation. In an effort to meet EPA MATS and/or State Hg limits, ME_2C utilizes a 2-part tunable program to provide the most cost effective Hg capture program in the Industry.This technology has been demonstrated to be the most cost-effective mercury control strategy in relation to other programs tested; with a greater than 92% capture rate.We will review field results in challenging combustion scenarios such as high SO_3 levels due to SCR or Flue Gas Conditioning andlow-rank coals. Removal performance was measured with coal grab sampling and CMM installed in the flue ductwork. Commercial Performance Testing of the SEA?-sorbent technology verified the results and economics.Flyash sales were not impacted with the addition of the program chemistry.
