Doosan Power Systems Limited (DPS) is developing competitive post combustion CO_2 capture (PCC) technologies for application on coal- and natural gas-fired power plants for commercialization by 2020. Utilizing globally-licensed advanced amine PCC process technology from HTC Purenergy Inc., Doosan Power Systems has, over the last 24 months, retrofitted two PCC pilot plants: 1. 160kW_t Emissions Reduction Test Facility (ERTF), located in Renfrew, Scotland. 2. 15MW_t CCPilot100+ plant installed in a slipstream on the Scottish and Southern Energy Ferrybridge Power Station in Northern England. DPS has commissioned the CCPilot100+ plant and has started a two year test program in Q1 2012. Benchmark performance on 30% w/w monoethanolamine (MEA) will be established followed by extensive parametric and long-term performance testing using the RS-2™ solvent. The paper presents CCPilot100+ plant operating experience gained during commissioning and testing and provides a summary of the test results from the first period of plant operation.
