X-Ray Image Compression Based on Wavelet Transform

X-Ray image is a special category of medical image. The amount of X-Ray images in hospital is very huge, which means less X-Ray images are transmitted under the same condition of transmission. Thus efficient methods are needed for X-Ray image compression. Wavelet image coding is a new image coding method and has been studied extensively. In the paper the schemes of reservation of low frequency information and threshold coding are studied which are based on discrete wavelet transform. Experimental results show that the proposed method achieve good performance and less computation in X-Ray image compression.
