Patua Geothermal Geologic Conceptual Model

The Patua Geothermal Field, located near Fernley, Nevada, 60 km east of Reno, has an extensive wellfield, with 13 active and five inactive wells, nine core holes, and ten temperature gradient holes. The plant started operating in 2013 and was acquired by Cyrq Energy, the current owner, in 2015. This paper presents a newly developed conceptual geologic model of the geothermal resource based on the tectonic setting, geophysical surveys, wellbore surveys, drilling data, native state temperature data, production data, and tracer test results ~ data mostly collected prior to Cyrq and AltaRock's involvement at Patua. A new numerical reservoir model based on this conceptual model has also been developed that is now being used for simulation of status quo operation and various development and improvement plan scenarios. Ultimately, these improved models will allow Cyrq to more effectively manage the geothermal resource, maximize project lifespan, and plan for future development.
