Hardware Scale Reduction in Large-Port Count OXCs Exploiting Selective Switch based Coarse Granular Routing

We present a novel selective switch based node architecture that exploits coarse granular routing and wavelength granular add/drop operations. Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed architecture's performance approaches that of the single layer optical path networks while substantially reducing hardware scale.
