Impact of the May 2011 Tornado on Joplin’s Sewer System

The City of Joplin, Missouri experienced a devastating tornado on May 22, 2011. While theabove ground asset damage was visible for everyone to see on their local newscast, the damageto the underground assets was also traumatic. This presentation will describe rehabilitation andreconstruction efforts made by the City of Joplin and its contractors in order to restore thefunctionality of the wastewater and storm water systems.
