The therapeutic attitude for degenerative knee joint damage (such as osteoarthritis) consists in a complex protocol which starts with physiotherapy sessions, involves the use of specific devices - orthosis for sustaining the affected joint, and includes intra-articular infiltrations for reducing the pain, improving joint mobility and minimizing functional deterioration [1,2]. Magnetically controlled viscosupplementation restores the viscoelastic qualities of the synovial fluid, improving the rheology as a result of controlled degradation of hyaluronate into the joint. This therapy requires a mix approach, combining the advantages offered by intra-articular therapy with the use of a special designed orthosis (oriented to the specific place of the articular lesion) containing permanent magnets. The magnetic field created by the magnets placed on the orthosis, localizes and concentrates the injected fluid with magnetic nanoparticles, enhancing the targeted delivery of the active substances [3].
