The following paper describes a new developed material test system to investigate ETFE-foilsunder biaxial stress conditions in consideration of geometrically and materially nonlinearities.The material behaviour of ETFE-foils under biaxial stress conditions is investigated withbursting tests of circular transparent ETFE-foils. The tests investigate the influence of differentstrain velocities and preloading conditions on the mechanical behaviour of ETFE-foils inconsideration of large strain values. The tests are done with a specially designed bursting test fortransparent ETFE-foils with a modular photogrammetric recording and image analysis system.The system enables to investigate the material behaviour of ETFE-foils up to the range ofviscoplastic deformation with reduction of the foil thickness. Therewith the test system broadensthe current measurement range of transparent ETFE-foils under biaxial stress conditions andgreat strain values. The paper describes the developed photogrammetric recording and imageanalysis system and presents the test results (i.e. deformation behaviour, stress-strain curves,breaking behaviour due to biaxial stresses).
