This study attempts to investigate the CO_2 adsorption performance over amine-functionalized mesoporous materials derived from photonic waste powder. The results indicated that the amine modified MCM-41(PWP) made from waste powder can have a CO_2 adsorption capacity of 70 mg/g, which is only slightly less than that made from pure silica chemical source of MCM-41(NaSi), 87 mg/g at 75°C. This can both help to reduce the adsorbent cost and the solid waste production rate. As a result, we have proved that it is viable to reshape the solid waste powder to become a very high surface area mesoporous material and utilize it as a CO_2 adsorbent.
