Worldwide environmental regulators are imposing stricter air emissions from FCC units. These regulations can be met with a combination of catalyst additives, operating variable changes, and hardware additions or modifications. SOx reduction additives are sufficient to control emissions to any level in full combustion units. NOx reduction additives are effective at reducing emissions by 10-70% in full combustion units. HCN emissions are gaining focus leading to an effort to understand the formation mechanisms along with development of control strategies.
