摘要

The green belt at ArcelorMittal Tubarao steelmaking plant has the reduction of wind speed as its main characteristic, which in turn, reduces the dragging of particulate matter into the atmosphere by -decrease the wind speed decrease. The target-goal of this study was to compare the efficiency of the Green-green Bbelt and the wWind fFence technologies in ArcelorMittal Tubarao coal yard using the Computational Fluids Dynamics modeling (CFD). The modeling concluded that the green belt efficiency rate, as it is today, is slightly lower than the wind fence rate (Base line - 75% / Wind Fence - 85% / Improved Green Belt - 83%). According to the modeling it was possible toto the modeling was capable of conclude thatcalculate the green belt efficiency rate, as it is today, is slightly lower than the wind fence rate (Base line 75% / Wind Fence 85% / Improved Green Belt 83%). The study points-indicated out-that by planting extra trees in specific areas of the coal yard, the green belt proves to be equivalent to the wind fence technology on, regarding the control of particulate matter emission control, in addition besidesto -providing other environmental benefits advantages.
