Equilibrium modeling of inorganic gases and aerosols in a subtropical coastal atmosphere revealed that aerosol-phase NH_4~+ shifted to gas-phase NH_3 as SO_2 concentration decreased, all else held constant. Nitrogen transfer modeling with CALMET/CALPUFF suggested that such a shift can cause a marginal increase in N dry deposition rates to land and water surfaces.
