Zn sheet and pre-weathered Zn materials with and without thin organic coatings exposed in an urban and a marine environment for five years - a comparison from a runoff and corrosion perspective
As part of a long-term ongoing investigation of zinc-based construction materials from a corrosion and a zinc runoff perspective, data from five years of unsheltered exposures in a marine (Brest), and an urban (Stockholm) site is compiled and presented within this paper. Exposed materials comprise Zn sheets, pre-weathered Zn materials with and without thin organic coatings, as well as Zn sheet with thicker coatings (approximately 20 microns). The determination of the amount of zinc runoff from these commercially available materials is of high importance for evaluating potential adverse environmental effects and for risk management.
