Industries across the country are implementing ENERGY STAR'S Energy Management Principals. The principals when properly applied provide significant savings in energy and related costs. This paper describes how a company can go beyond the original scope of the program and gain competitive advantage using the skills learned as the program evolves. By providing services to external customers one can benefit the customer's bottom line while reinforcing business relationships. In the end both benefit financially while developing mutual appreciation for each other's business and challenges.
