The bit error rate (BER) is evaluated in the presence of random pointing jitter for intersatellite optical links. First the probability density function of intensity fluctuation is derived taking consideration of that the pointing jitter follows Rician distribution practically which address the influence of bias error. Subsequently, the random pointing jitter induced intensity fluctuation is analysised. Consequently, the optical communication parameter BER is investigated as a result of the intensity fluctuation. And numerical results are also presented to depict the influence of pointing error especially bias error. The results will aid intersatellite optical system design.
