摘要

Feature enhanced visualization is the important extension of the traditional vector field visualization. There are several shortcomings of the geometrical elements based algorithms,such as the weak image quality and the limitation of detailed information. Image based feature visualization can overcome these obstacles and display the global features of the vector field with clarity. In this paper,we propose an image based feature visualization algorithm making use of the hardware optimized texture image operation. Firstlv. we generate the texture image with accelerated LIC algorithm. Then the features of the vector field are extracted and rendered to the image. Variable step Euler integration and hardware accelerating approach are applied to improve the algorithm performance. The experimental results show that our algorithm is reliable and efficient.
