Attenuation problem is common in vessel's seakeeping numerical wave tank, which is especially evident for short wave's simulation. Based on theoretical analysis, the impact factors on wave's numerical attenuation are got. And through a series of comparison simulations, with regular wave generated by wave boundary method and free surface captured by Volume of Fluid method, the quantitative relationship between the impact factors and numerical attenuation is summarized and an optimized setup is got. Using this optimized setup, a regular short wave with wavelength of 0.75m is simulated, and the simulation results show good agreement with the theoretical solution.
