Since Groupon launched in November 2008, many deal-of-the-day websites, also called group buying websites in China, are increasing fast and attracting the attention of academic researchers. The paper analyzes the history and development of the group buying websites. A new group buying business model based on the characteristics of SNS is proposed. It can be used not only for the studies of this kind of websites but also for the dea)-of-theday website Companies to decide their strategy.
