Vase Quality and H2O2 Contents Response to DMTU in Rosa Hybrida L.

Rose petal senescence was associated with higher superoxide radicals. DMTU is a chemical trap of H2O2. In order to study the effect of DMTU on cut rose, 'Smanths' was treated with DMTU in the experiment. It's found that DMTU could dramatically accelerate the flower opening and increase the flower size. Meanwhile the water uptake of cut rose was raised and the protein content was lowered in petals. The results suggested that DMTU is a useful method to improve the vase quality of cu rose.
