The Access Grid (AG) is one of the most widely used technologies for building advanced collaborative environment, and a distributed collaborative Augmented Reality (AR) environment has been established with AG and AR technologies. In such distributed shared environment, one of the most difficult tasks is maintaining a consistent view of the shared AR scene among all participants. This paper presents a scene synchronization method to support the management of composite scene elements and the synchronization of the view in the shared scene and heterogeneous users' manipulations cooperating within a shared context After presenting this method, this paper describes its use in a prototype application, and results show that this method can properly synchronize the dynamic shared scene, providing the users with a unified view of their activities in multiple collaboration spheres.
