The outage probability of the channel stateinformation (CSI)-assisted opportunistic amplify-andforward (AF) relaying system with a maximal ratio combining (MRC) receiver at the destination is investigated, and the exact outage probability expression is presented. The asymptotic equivalence of two different opportunistic relay selection criterions (maxSNR and maxmin) is proved too. Monte Carlo simulation results show that the derived expression is in excellent agreement with the outage probability of systems based on the maxSNR criterion, and also provides a good approximation to the outage probability of systems based on the maxmin criterion.
