Practical Timing Considerations for Experiments with Distributed Data Collection Systems

The collection of data using independent data collection systems presents a challenge in keeping the samples aligned in time. Methods to align collected samples can improve analysis results, especially in relating the response of distributed sensors to common events. Several practical methods of synchronizing independent data collection systems are presented, both for systems which can be connected by common cabling and those which cannot.
