A measurement interlab for investigating the hand effect on head SAR

The results presented in this paper contribute to the investigations on the impact of the user's hand on the SAR in the head. Six laboratories have assessed the peak spatial-averaged SAR at 1950 MHz for 33 commercial phones with varied form factors, either held in one of 3 different hand phantoms or without a hand. This study confirms conclusions from previously published analyses that, in some cases, the head SAR can be enhanced by the presence of the hand.
