RS and GIS-based eco-environmental vulnerability evaluation in Dongjiangyuan area

Focus on major eco-environment problems in Dongjiangyuan area, the paper selected twelve evaluation indexes (including terrain, climate, soil, vegetation index, land use type, socio-economic data) were set up based on RS and GIS technology. Using 100 m×100 m real area as basic unit, the spatial principal components analysis method is apply to calculate the eco-environment synthesis exponent according to the weight of some indexes. The eco-environment vulnerability index (EVI) is produce to evaluate the eco-environment fragile status during 1985-2005. Results show that: (1) The spatial distribution of EVI of Dongjiangyuan area was significantly differently. (2) The high EVI zone was mainly located in northern of Dongjiangyuan area such as Chengjiang village, Xinshan village, Gaoyunshan village, Sanbaishan village, Hezi village.et al. (3) The average EVI of Dongjiangyuan area was insignificantly difference in recent 20 years.
