Study on the dehydration of high temperature coal-tar by microwave

Because of high viscosity and density, the dehydration of coal-tar is difficulty. Therefore, An attemptment of dehydration of high coal-tar is made by microwave. The influence of microwave pulse conduction rate, time of microwave radiation and moisture content of coal-tar on dehydration rate of high coal-tar were explored. Based on this, optimization on dehydrating condition had been carried out. The result indicated that the method of dehydration coal-tar by microwave was feasible, effective, speedy and inexpensive, therefore, it has great prospect. To high temperature coal-tar of 10–13% moisture, when microwave pulse conduction rate was 75%, radiation time of microwave for dealing with 100g coal-tar, 200g coal-tar and 300g coal-tar are 25 minute, 35 minute and 45 minute, respectively. Under this condition, dehydration rate is more than 99%. And, there was no additive in the experimental process. The result of research has the meaning of practical guide to the dehydrating of coal-tar by microwave.
