The pollutants removed mainly by the surface layer of filter material by using quartz sand filter. The water have high viscosity because the polyacrylamide(PAM) were contained, which made the cake layer of quartz sand filter become “jelly”. The “jelly” layer could not break when backwashing, and then the block materials adheres to the tubes that leading to backwashing pressure higher and the materials drained away. So the treatment effect of the filter was affected. In view of this, the author developed mixing quartz sand filter. Through testing, mixing quartz sand filter backwashing pressure from the original 0.25 ∼ 0.45Mpa reduced to 0.17 ∼ 0.20Mpa, materials losing was resolved. The oil content of outer water reached 5.8mg / L and the suspended solids (SS) reached 3.2 mg / L. The removal efficiency of oil and SS reached 85% and 86% respectively.
