The engineering involved with UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) design should beintegrated with the atmospheric phenomena study, aiming at developing more efficientmodels for hazard evaluation and decision-making due to the knowledge of weatherconditions during the missions. The knowledge of weather conditions is essential for safetyflights. There have been great climate changes, making predicting weather essential, mainlythose aspects related to short-duration phenomena that are becoming essential for manned orunmanned aircraft safety. If an aircraft has an accurate weather prediction model along withupdated data coming from ATN (Aeronautical Telecommunication Network), it is lesssensitive to weather conditions during the mission, even in the event of a communication losswith the ground. A study of the MIPv6 (Mobile Internet Protocol version 6) Protocol ispresented, for exchanging weather messages between aircraft and the Ground AuthorityControl, allowing the update of the mathematical weather embedded model.This protocol follows the guidelines established by ICAO for the ATN, which includes theconcepts of IP mobility, convergence in the air-ground communications besides other subnetworks.
