TITLE : Evaluation of the Risk Frequency for Hazards of Runway Incursion

Runway incursion is a complicated subject for research due to its rarity. Moreover, each potentialhazard for runway incursion is dependent on the airport environment and operational characteristics. The goalof this paper is to evaluate the risk frequency of hazards related to runway incursion. Gimpo InternationalAirport, which has a record of two runway incursions, was selected for this study. Additionally, we verified15 hazards causing runway incursion, and derived the weights for each hazard through analytic hierarchyprocess (AHP). Then, fault tree analysis (FTA) was conducted by applying the statistics of runway incursionand the estimated weights to evaluate the risk frequency of each hazard. The analysis results verified the closerelation of runway incursion with human error.
