SIMULATION MODELS TO ANALYZE DIFFERENT SCENARIOS OF INTERNATIONAL ARRIVAL AT AIRPORTS

This work presents a simulation study performed at Rio de Janeiro International Airport -Brazil, where 100 passengers have been observed at the arriving components. Thevalidation of the model has been conducted by comparasion with real system results. Ninecombinations of conveyor dimension, waiting time at the baggage claim area, proportion ofpassengers with two baggages, and the number of passport control desks were tested. Theresults indicate that the offered level of service can be significantly improved withmanagerial decisions related to number of passport control desks and baggage loading atcarousel.
