Methanol and dimethyl ether steam reforming to hydrogen-rich gas were studied overCuO-CeO_2/γ-Al2O3 catalysts. The catalysts were shown to provide complete conversion of DMEand methanol to the hydrogen-rich gas containing <2 vol.% CO at 300-350oC. The hydrogenproduction rate in these reactions reached 600 mmol g-1h-1. XRD, HRTEM, EDX and FTIR wereused for catalysts characterization. High activity of catalysts may be explained by assuming thatDME dehydration occurs on the acid sites of γ-Al2O3 and methanol steam reforming takes placeon mixed oxide phase CuO-CeO_2, solid solution of copper ions in cerium dioxide.
