Technology Frontiers: Highlights from NASA's Report on Breakthrough Capabilities for Space Exploration

Long-term exploration of space involves many difficult challenges. Future exploration missions will require unique breakthroughs in many capability areas, including breakthroughs in human health, in-situ resource utilization, manufacturing, sensing, and human-computer interactions. Space agencies constantly strive to identify both the challenges of the future and potential solutions that maximize investment dollars. This paper summarizes one such effort sponsored by NASA and discusses how breakthrough technology areas could change exploration of the future.
