A numerical investigation of turbulent flow around arrays of rectangular bars in a channel is presented. A commercial CFD code, COMSOL Multiphysics version 3.5, is used to solve the steady and isothermal Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations and a standard k-e turbulence model with a scalable wall-function. Simulations were performed for three different angles of incidence and spacing. The results demonstrate that mean velocity is reasonably well predicted by the turbulence model. The distributions of streamwise mean velocity along the wake axes of each of the bar pairs are independent of bar spacing. The inclined cylinders produced asymmetric flow patterns that may result in potential asymmetric hydrodynamic loads on the cylinders and vibration problems.
