In the new offshore gas fields in Venezuela one of the principal problems is the corrosion environments for the structures constructed there. The offshore experience in Venezuela is limited, only in the case of Lake Maracaibo Oil and gas fields the managements of corrosion is limited to the application of, organic coatings, impressed current and sacrificial anodes. The main purpose of this paper is to present the influence of the applied potential and temperature on the performance of an external organic coating used for offshore structures. For this evaluation carbon steel coupons were coated with Fusion Bonded Epoxy coatings and tested in cathodic disbondment tests. Results at different temperatures and applied potentials shown the importance of long term testing in order to qualify the performance of an organic coating for offshore conditions.
