A Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET) is a dynamic wireless network that can be formed without the need for any pre-existing infrastructure in which each node can act as a router. Wireless mobile ad hoc stations have limited battery capacity, hence, ad hoc routing protocols ought to be energy conservative. Energy aware routing protocols are consistently cited as efficient solutions for ad hoc and sensor networks routing and data management. However, there is not a consistent approach to define the energy related cost metrics that are used to guide the routing protocol performance. In this paper, we provide an analysis and critical review of energy entropy metrics, it present an Energy Entropy on EECA (EE-EECA) multipath routing protocol. The key idea of the protocol is to find the minimal node residual energy of each route in the process of selecting path by descending node residual energy. It can balance individual nodes battery power utilization and hence prolong the entire networks lifetime. Simulation results show that the proposed EE-EECA routing protocol performed better than EECA.
