Full Scale Demonstration of a Plant Wide MultiPollutant Control Project 18 Months in Operation

The Arizona Public Service Cholla Station is the site of a full-scale multi-pollutant control project with numerous unique features. The goals of the project were to simultaneously implement modifications to reduce emissions of particulate and SO2 while providing improved inherent mercury control and capability for further mercury reductions. This paper will provide an update on the performance of Unit 4 completed in May of 2008 and the progress and performance data of Unit 3, including the conversion of a hot-side electrostatic precipitator to a fabric filter, installation of a wet lime FGD system utilizing inhibited oxidation, significant upgrades to the existing lime reagent preparation and waste slurry disposal systems and conversion of the existing stack to accommodate operation in the "wet stack" mode. Specific plant operation and performance data for each unit will be incorporated and discussed.
