A series of thermoplastic polyurethane elastomers (TPU) based on 4,4'-diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI), 1,4-butanediol (BD) and different macrodiols, polycarbonate diol, polyester polyol and polyether polyol with a M_n of 1000 were synthesized by one shot polymerization method. These polyurethane elastomers had constant hard segment content and the influence of chemical structure of the polyol in the properties of TPUs has been investigated. The thermal, mechanical and degradation properties of resulting TPU were investigated. The properties and durability of TPU showed strong dependence on the polyol molecular structure. The properties of TPU based on polycarbonatediol showed higher durability than TPU synthesized with polyester or polyether polyols.
