SEISMIC RESPONSE ANALYSIS OF CONCRETE DAMS USING DAMAGE MECHANICS AND CREEP MODELS

摘要

To evaluate the seismic safety of long-term operating concrete dams, we first obtain the stress and displacement relationship of concrete dams according to an evolution equation for creep damage in static condition. Then, based on the static results, the bilinear damage evolution model is adopted to combine with viscous-spring artificial boundary to investigate the failure pattern of concrete dams under the action of earthquake. This method proposed in this study can consider the effect of creep-related degradation on the safety assessment of long-term operating concrete dams. Finally, the method is validated by a comparison with the existing project data, and the results show that the method exhibits reasonable and important improvement for the existing seismic safety evaluation of large concrete dams.
