Efficient Management of Ground Segment Resources -ESOC's GSAO Approach to Offline Operations

Ground Station Automation and Offline Operation (GSAO) aims at increasing the level of automation in the mission ground segment, resulting in a more cost-effective usage of the available resources. This in turn reaps the benefit of reducing the overall operational costs of missions, without sacrificing safety, availability, and accountability of operation, whilst still providing the potential of increasing mission output by making passes available for commanding, which would otherwise be unsuited for manual operation (too short, during night time or holiday periods).
