A Survey of Household Energy Consumption in Johor Bahru, Malaysia: Energy Saving Strategies for Reducing Usage of Air-conditioners in the Tropics

摘要

The survey results represented that the use of cooling appliances, especially air-conditioners, greatly affects the total energy consumption in Malaysian terraced houses. Reducing the usage of air-conditioners would particularly contribute to energy saving and reducing the emissions of CO_2 in Malaysian houses. Passive cooling techniques such as the improvement of ventilation perfonnance of buildings and cities could be one of the effective methods to achieve that goal.
