摘要

In the present work the microstructure and the mechanical properties of friction stir welded AA5454 butt welds are discussed. Particularly, the influence of the friction stir welding process on the appearing microhardness profile in the joining areas and the changes of the grain size depending on the different welding zones will be described in detail. Furthermore it will be shown that the ultimate tensile strength of friction stir welded joints reaches nearly the value of the parent material.
