The microstructure algorithm has been tested to predict mi-crostructure of Alloy 718 for a 16-pass analysis involving a combination of air and water quenching at the end of the 16th pass. It has been observed that the rolled bar is fully recrystallized and the average grain size determined by the implemented algorithm matches within 1 ASTM grain size with the observed microstructure (see Fig. 5). In summary, an efficient mesh re-zoning algorithm and a generic microstructural algorithm for predicting microstructure has been developed and validated for a 16 stand multi-pass rolling.
