Lateral movement of strips is a problem which is common to various types of continuous processing lines used with strip products, including pickling lines, annealing lines, coating lines, and others. Depending on the degree of lateral strip movement, this problem can have a negative impact on quality and productivity, for example, causing quality defects such as abrasion and edge wave, and causing downtime due to deviation of the strip from the processing line roll or reduction of line speed in order to avoid lateral strip movement. In particular, in recent years, technologies for stabilizing strip travel so as to secure high quality and high productivity have become increasingly important, and there is also a heightened need to prevent lateral strip movement.
