Manufactorable mobile phone optics: higher order aspheres are notalways better

We provide an overview of the design drivers for mobile camera phone cameras, with particular attention paid to aspheric order. The designer is often tempted to use high order aspheres (e.g. 18th order). However, better as-built performance can often be obtained at lower orders.
