The aim of this study is to develop the mental workload monitoring system in simulator-based education. The mental workload monitoring system shows us the mental workload of bridge teammates and the summarized mental workload data of professional. By comparing the meatal workload data of beginners with summarized mental workload data of professionals, we can immediately instruct beginners the different recognitions, timings of maneuvering decision-making and maneuvering methods between beginners and professionals, which is why this system is effective for the simulator-based education and leads to the safe navigation. To measure mental workload, we select the heart rate variability among many physiological indices. In this study, we evaluate the mental workload by the patch-type device which ability, showing us the mental workload in real time, is essential for mental workload monitoring system. We conduct the experiment including instructor which is the future task of the former research. In this research, we observe the different mental workload between beginners and professional, compare the mental workload of beginners before with after instruction and store the data. This research reveals some problems with scenario, and evaluates the different recognitions, timings of maneuvering decisions and maneuvering methods in before and after instruction.
