Single-cell gel electrophoresis (SCGE) is a useful technical tool to detect DNA damages. In this work, tobacco plants (Nicotiana tabacum var. xanthi) were cultivated in different concentrations of nitrobenzene, and the DNA damages were analyzed by using SCGE. The results showed that the DNA damages increased with increasing nitrobenzene concentrations. Results of the present study suggest that nitrobenzene is one of genotoxic pollutan and may be a genotoxdic risk to human health.
