Abstract-The effect of indigestible dextrin on blood glucose and blood lipids in diabetic mice was investigated in this study. Methods Diabetic mouse model was established by intraperitioneal injection of alloxan. Low, middle and high doses of indigestible dextrin with the concentration of 10%,25% and 50% aqueous solutions were given respectively to diabetic mice following lavage. The fasting blood glucose was tested on the 0th and 28th day. The diabetic mice were sacrificed on the 28th day. Then blood lipids were assayed. Compared with the control group. The value of blood glucose reduced significantly in high dose group and middle dose group (P < 0.05). TC level reduced markedly and HDL level increased significantly in middle dose treatment group (P<0.05). Conclusion Indigestible dextrin reduced blood glucose and regulates blood lipids. The effect of indigestible dextrin in middle dose was better than those of others.
