The water resources are shortage in North China. Urban stormwater utilization and recharge to the groundwater aquifer has become an important measure of water resources management with urban impervious areas expansion. The quality of rainfall and roof rainwater indirectly affected the urban stormwater recycling. Jinan city is the study domain. The rainfall quality from Jan. to Aug. in 2008 at 3 sites was monitored. At the same time, the quality of 7 rainfall processes in 2008 and roof rainwater of No.17 Building for teachers in West Campus of University of Jinan were detected. Detection results showed that concentration of ammonia ion and nitrate in rainwater, ammonia nitrogen, nitrite nitrogen, suspended solids, lead, color, turbidity, volatile phenol in roof rainwater exceeded drinking water standard. Either recycling use or recharge to groundwater need to be pretreated.
