In this paper, existing methods for interpreting coefficient of consolidation inclays from piezocone dissipation tests are briefly reviewed. Piezocone tests have beenconducted at different sites in Jiangsu province of China. Piezocone dissipation tests wereperformed at different penetration depths. Two existing interpretation methods weremade on the CPT dissipation data analyzing both monotonic and dilatory pore pressuredecay behaviors. The interpreted values are compared with the reference c_v valuesdetermined from the laboratory oedometer tests. It is shown that the CPT interpretationvalues are generally four times larger than the c_v values obtained through conventionaloedometer test for Jiangsu Quaternary clay deposits. The values of c_h obtained by theCPTU method are in the range of back-analyzed field values.
