In view of the effect of lateral restrains on effective prestress of RC frame beam strengthened with external prestressing tendon, the stress process of RC frame beam is divided into two stages, that is, the partly prestress loss stage and the effective prestress application stage, then the model of stress increment is simplified, and the formula of calculating the stress increment of prestressing tendon is deduced by energy method. At last, the calculation formula is verified by comparing the calculation with experimental data.
