摘要

In this work, the performance of chemically modified carbon materials towards the adsorption of penicillin, one of the most consumed Pharmaceuticals in veterinary uses, was investigated. We have modified the carbonaceous materials by incorporating surface functional groups to the adsorbent matrix via wet oxidation. The reactive and/or catalytic decomposition of penicillin by the effect of the carbon functionalities and the solution pH was investigated, and linked to the physico-chemical, textural and structural properties of the carbon adsorbents.
